IMMIGRATION

Express Entry

Express Entry provides a pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers in Canada or overseas. Express Entry is an application management system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage and process applications received through three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs for skilled workers which are Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). The system considers skills, work experience, language ability, education and other factors (e.g., strong French language skills, having a sibling in Canada, or a valid job offer in Canada, etc.) that contribute to economic success for immigrants once in Canada. The Canadian Express Entry system is not an immigration program, rather it is a way for Canada to manage the intake of skilled worker applications, rank applicants and select those who have the required skills and experience to successfully establish themselves in Canada. IRCC regularly invite top ranking candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residence.

Provincial Nominee Programs

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams are a key part of Canada’s immigration policy. The Provincial Nominee Program is for applicants who have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory. Each Canadian province and territory operates its own PNP designed to meet its specific economic and demographic needs. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in settling in a particular province. Successful candidates who receive a provincial or territorial nomination can then submit an application for permanent residence at the Federal level.
